I bought a MikesSpike XL to do double duty, both as umbrella stand for a big Corona patio model and as a rod holder (even though I have 4 home made ones) . To my delight the XL inside diameter is large enough for the umbrellas bottom tube to pass with collar and button connector so that the thumb screw can be used to tighten it in. We usually use it just dropped in to rest on top of the thumbscrew on windless days but today had to drop it down and tighten. Marvelous anchor, I appreciate the lengthened slide of the XL as it is faster and more forceful to set in wet packed sand than the shorter umbrella only model. Thanks, Mike!!!
